| Almora Shikhar is a beautiful and spacious hotel in the front of the Himalayas and situated in midst of the almora town founded by Raja Balo Kalyan Chand of dynasty of ruled in 1563 AD. In the NORTH part of Uttarakhand 5 k.m. long horse saddle shaped ridge , is mentioned in the skanda puran as a “Sacred Mountain” situated between the two rivers Kaushiki (Kosi ) and Salmali (Suyal) surrounded by circle of four spacious hills, Kasar Devi, Shyai Devi, Banar Devi and Dunagiri Devi. The Surrounding hills and ridges are covered with deodar and pine trees. Almora Shikhar combines a panoramic and breathtaking view of the north of some twenty great marvelous show peaks, including Kamet, Nanda Devi, Chaukhamva, Panchachuli and Trisul all over twenty thousand feet high stretching in a jagged line right up to border of Tibet ninty miles away. It is one of the jumping-off places lies at an altitude of just over 5500 ft. for pilgrimage to the sacred shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath and to Mount Kailash to Shiva. |
